The dynamics of weight loss are interesting, in view of the many people who desire to shed some weight in comparison to the small number who really do. You would think with all of the weight loss programs and dietary supplements, that weight problems would disappear completely. But that hasn't taken place, so something must be wrong. It is a veritable minefield, figuring out what's going to work from the huge number of weight loss aids available. And simply because they work for one person, doesn't suggest they will work for you. What is readily available ranges from the sublime to the silly, from the by now common snack bars and shakes, through to soaps and creams that are alleged will slim you down.
It's a good thing that you don't need to know every program and product or you would get absolutely baffled. One might advise you to eat nothing besides one big meal per day, while the other says eat a few small, snack-sized meals spread throughout the day. Wouldn't it be great if you could just start using a product and right away see the weight start to fall off? The fact is that it does not happen that way, and you should not be misled by any plan that says it does. There aren't any real shortcuts to slimming down and you must expect it to take a very long time. You need to cultivate healthy eating and living habits to make any weight loss long lasting. It does not just take being careful about what crosses your lips to lose weight, though. You also have to include physical exercise in the proper ratio. If you're living an inactive lifestyle, such as being a couch potato, dieting won't work that well.
And regrettably you can't just bite the bullet and starve the fat away. It makes sense that starving yourself would work really easily, but it doesn't work like that. The body has an in-built mechanism meant to protect it against starvation, so the opposite actually occurs. Counter-active hormones are created the moment the body senses starvation coming on. Cortisol is created which brings about the stimulation of fat production. In addition to which water retention is induced, which translates into weight gain.
Your metabolic rate might be a huge drag on how fast you shed weight. It determines the rate your body converts the food you take in into energy. Every person's metabolic rate is different, and if yours is sluggish you're going to be inclined to hang onto extra weight for longer. Your friend's metabolic rate might be a lot faster than yours, so don't even think that you can eat what he or she does.
